Fibre landscape
School and Community Context
This unit of work, Fibre landscape, was written by Julie Irvine, Head Teacher Senior School, Vincentia High School.
Vincentia is in a coastal rural setting in the southern area of the Shoalhaven River valley, approximately 20km south of Nowra. It is part of the Yuin nation and is near the border of the Dhurga and Dharawal language groups.
Vincentia High School is a comprehensive high school with an Indigenous population of over 11 percent. Many of the students come from the ACT territory of Jervis Bay and live, or are related to community members, at Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community. The willingness of the local community to share their knowledge of country and cultural practices, support the successful implementation of this unit.
