Gilgandra and Coonabarabran in 2003

Term 1 2003

  • contact made with schools and an information package posted
  • initial visit made to schools by the project officer
  • teacher mentors identified and visited by project officer
  • teacher mentors meet with the project reference group in Sydney
  • clarification of roles and expectations of all those involved in the project

Term 2 2003

  • first visit by OBOS officers, teacher-mentors and community members to outline the project and seek support
  • early discussion and planning by teachers, AEAs and mentors
  • follow-up visit by mentors and further planning, identification of contacts and so on

Term 3 2003

  • meeting of mentors and team members for initial planning of units
  • initial analysis of school BST and SNAP data
  • follow-up of data analysis by team members
  • Sharing Day at Dubbo for all teams and community members, mentors, OBOS officers and invited guests
  • ongoing planning by team members
  • second school meeting for planning and finalisation of unit planning

Term 4 2003

  • mentor discussion with team on draft unit and implementation timeline
  • implementation of unit and work sample collection
  • final visit by mentors and excursion day for projects – Gilgandra used The Pines area and Coonabarabran visited the Warrumbungles Environmental Education centre for culminating activities
  • final Sharing Day at Dubbo for all teams and community members to celebrate their achievements, evaluate the projects and set new directions
