Journal 8 – Some thoughts on Cultural connection

Transcript - Maths opportunities at Nurragingy

Janice

I'm going to enjoy writing my Maths unit around this place. To think there is so much maths, mathematics-based in designing this place.

The second thing that I did was discussed cultural behaviour of local Aboriginals with Daphne Bell.

Daphne informed me that the local community members often got together for a BBQ and recreational activities at either Nurragingy or places similar.

At times they would spend all day there playing with each other and their children, playing football, baseball or other ball games.

They would all bring something to share for lunch and snacks.

I found this quite comforting to know because it linked very well to what I was planning for my Measurement unit: A class outing to Nurragingy for a picnic and sporting activities.
